Ruby in Zoisite comes mainly from Africa - the alternative name for zoisite is anyolite, which is thought to come from the Masai word "anyoli", meaning green. It contains flecks of black hornblende, so will mix with black beads such as agate or obsidian. These beads have a slightly rough feeling surface which is normal for zoisite - it's a relatively soft stone that is difficult to polish. Each bead measures around 20mm long - please note that around 30% of the beads contain ruby flecks.
